Policy Plan

Income and Assets

The assets of the Adi Da Foundation Europe are built up through donations, gifts, inheritances, and bequests.

The administrative costs of the Foundation will be in reasonable proportion to the expenditure incurred to further the Foundation’s objectives.

From the moment the first donation is received, the Foundation will take the position that all assets not directly spent on public benefit purposes – including assets subject to a maintenance obligation – must be managed conservatively.

Short-term investments of assets will carry as little risk as possible. However, the Board does not expect to hold more assets than is permitted or required under the Foundation’s regulations or the terms of donations.

It is intended that, for donations received (to the extent possible and within applicable regulations and other conditions), the net result (the net result being equal to the average gross investment return minus (i) costs incurred, (ii) expected inflation, and (iii) the costs of fundraising and managing the Foundation) will be spent in full in each year, or, if applicable, in the following year, on the purposes set out in the Foundation’s objectives.

Any returns on core capital – after deduction of management costs, any (periodic) indexation, and permitted reserve formation – will be spent within a reasonable period on the public benefit purpose, based on a fixed spending percentage of the core capital that is independent of the actual return achieved in any given year but is aligned with the average return over a certain period.

The Foundation does not hold more assets than is reasonably necessary for the continuity of its planned activities.
